TikTok Shop Tutorial 2023

20 September 2023

If you’re a daily TikTok scroller, I’m sure you’ve come across multiple TikTok shop ads on your feed. After months of developing, and testing in select regions, TikTok Shop has officially launched in the United States. Now over 150 million users can shop for products directly from the app.

Users can shop in multiple ways including live video shopping, shoppable apps, affiliate programs, or even through the dedicated TikTok Shop tab.

In this post, we will walk through a TikTok Shop tutorial for 2023, for both sellers and buyers, to get the most out of TikTok’s e-commerce platform, and shop with ease.

What is TikTok Shop?

TikTok Shop is the network’s first e-commerce platform, allowing users to shop directly in the app. Brands and creators can set up their own shops and sell products directly through their videos while receiving a commission.

Users can find products in a few different places: LIVE shopping, the For You page, the Shop tab, brands product showcases, creator affiliate programs, and Shop ads.

TikTok has partnered with multiple e-commerce partners such as Shopify, WooCommerce, Salesforce, Magento, Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, and more, allowing merchants to connect products from their preferred e-commerce platform.

The network has also partnered with customer service platforms such as Zendesk, Gorgias, and 1440, print-on-demand merchandisers such as Printful, Printify, and NovaTomato, review platform Yotpo, and shipping services WeeBee, Flowspace, and Easyship.

The TikTok Shop App & Service Store provides service and support to those looking to expand their shop to TikTok. The TikTok Shop Official Portal is where buyers, sellers, partners, and affiliates can find more information, and get started.

How to Access TikTok Shop

Anyone user with an active account can purchase products through TikTok Shop, and no extra requirements are necessary. When it comes to shopping and buying products, there are a few different places you can shop on TikTok:

  • In-Feed Videos and LIVE Shopping: Shop via tagged products in videos and LIVEs in the For You feed.
  • Product Showcase: View products, reviews, and purchase products directly from a brand’s product showcase in their profile.
  • Shop Tab: In this product marketplace, buyers can search and find products, as well as browse recommended products.
  • Shop Ads: Sellers can boost their TikTok Shops and products through Ads and reach a larger audience.
  • Affiliate Program: With this commission-based product marketing program, creators can monetize their content by sharing and promoting products.

Next in this TikTok Shop tutorial, let’s dive into the different ways to shop and how to create your own shop.

How to Sell on TikTok Shop

In order to create a TikTok Shop, you first need an active TikTok account. Anyone can set up a TikTok Shop, and there are no account requirements necessary to get started. Then, head to the TikTok Shop Registration page and enter your information.

After submitting your information, TikTok will review your application and email you 1-2 days later with your application results. If approved, you can link your TikTok account and then upload and sell your products online!

When you’re ready to upload your products, these can be uploaded in the seller center. Uploaded products and content need to meet the TikTok Shop policies and TikTok Community Guidelines in order to go live.

This is your 2023 TikTok Shop tutorial, to start selling and purchasing products. As you can see, this unlocks a ton of opportunities for both brands and creators to promote their products and find interested customers.

TikTok has gone the extra mile to provide buyers and sellers with the most seamless native shopping experience.
