A Threads App Website is coming

23 August 2023

Users have been asking for a desktop version since the launch of Threads but Meta has finally delivered! A Threads website is coming this week…

Introducing Threads.net!

It’s no secret that Threads has been dwindling in popularity since its launch last month. For the app that grew the quickest in history, its current struggle is retaining user interest.

But that struggle may be about to change. Meta just announced that a Threads website is coming and it’s coming fast! Threads.net is being rolled out to users this week! This will allow users to post, engage, and scroll Threads from a desktop computer.

Rumors were circulating but the announcement came straight from the Threads Instagram account that can be seen here!

We鈥檙e rolling out a web experience for Threads over the coming days. The new logged-in experience for web lets you post a Thread, view your feed, and interact with other people鈥檚 Threads. We鈥檙e working hard to bring this experience to parity with mobile and will add more functions to the web version in the coming weeks.

Once available, users will see a login prompt on the main screen of the website. Not sure if it’s available to you just yet? You can check the website to see if you have the update. More than likely you are just seeing a QR code but this will be changing very soon.

With how quickly the Threads app was launched in a 1.0 version, it’s no surprise that we can expect something similar with the launch of the web-based version. You will however atleast be able to access your Threads feed and post to the app.

Threads has seen a significant drop in usage since it launched and this may be a way for Meta to bring in more users and test to get things in the app right. Up until this point, having no website version has severely limited users and businesses. This update may be just what Meta needs to keep Threads thriving and growing!

While it’s still too early to tell if Threads will survive in the long run, we are watching closely. Keep an eye out for the official launch date of the web-based version! In the meantime, check out our blog post all about Threads.
